Light Cinema, Walsall Now Complete

Phelan Construction began work on the Light Cinema at Walsall’s waterfront development back in December 2015 and the luxury eight-screen, 1200-seat cinema is now open to the public. Light Cinema in Walsall is the first in the country to boast the latest high-tech screen and also features baby-friendly screenings and special screenings for those with autism and dementia.

The fit-out of the cinema by Phelan Construction included formation of the foyer and ‘The Green Room’ coffee/bar area, the toilets, ceilings, wall linings, ceramic tiling, decorations, the manufacture and install of all joinery including 2 bars and 1 concessions counter, and management of the cinema’s specialist direct contractors.

Phil Dove, general manager for The Light, said:

“All partners involved have been committed to support Light with securing interest from an excellent calibre of clients.”

The Green Room – a café bar situated inside the venue featuring stage lights and rustic furniture, is a great place for customers to relax with a drink before viewing a film or to simply catch up with friends.

Councillor Adrian Andrew, deputy leader for Walsall Council, said:

“It is a beautiful venue and I am delighted to have played a major role in delivering Walsall’s first town centre-based cinema for more than two decades. I am sure that many people will be pleased to have a cinema on their doorstep.”
