It’s been a busy couple of months at Phelan, with lots of high-profile projects either starting or finishing on site. We’re also feverishly planning for the impending Sleep + Eat event, taking place from 20th to 21st November at Olympia in London.
Phelan will be working alongside HW Joinery to construct a West Ham inspired room, following cutting-edge designs created by leading architect Denton Corker Marshall. It will be part of a series of immersive installations in the ‘Sleep Set’ category, in which designers have been tasked with creating bedroom designs using influential brands that wouldn’t necessarily shout ‘hospitality design’ as inspiration. The goal is to subtly integrate the style and influence of these brands throughout the themed concept.
Alongside the Denton Corker Marshall X West Ham FC room that Phelan will be constructing, the other rooms will be:
- Hirsch Bedner Associates London X Natural History Museum
- Yasmine Mahmoudieh X Penguin Modern Classics
- AB Concept X Maison Pierre Hermé Paris
We were thrilled when Denton Corker Marshall asked us to be part of the Sleep + Eat event alongside HW Joinery. The event aims to showcase inspiring hospitality through design and prides itself on being the “ultimate conceptual playground for the hoteliers, restaurateurs and designers behind Europe’s leading hospitality projects.” It’s a great fit for Phelan, who specialises in the luxury hotel fit-out and refurbishment market.
Over the course of two days, a range of consultants, designers and architects will come together to view the expertly curated exhibition with leading brands showcasing their products and concepts. There will also be a thought leadership seminar for attending guests, looking at the future of design, as well as networking opportunities and the opportunity to view the immersive installations.
So far, we have got the proposed designs ready and are working our way through finalising the technical drawings and electrical plans. Our construction team only has a matter of hours to get the bedroom up and ready before the event, navigating a two-storey building and busy lifts. We’re going to have to make sure every piece fits together before it’s taken to London, doing a demo run in HW Joinery’s workshop first, and then measuring everything to check it will fit within the lift space. We’ve got the paint samples on the way, marketing plans all lined up, and even have a little surprise lined up for those who visit us on the day.
Feel free to come and say hello – we’d love to see you. You can register for your free Sleep + Eat ticket here.
