Phelan’s caped crusaders raise money for the Robin Cancer Trust

On Sunday, 18th of November, the Phelan team braved the elements and donned capes for the Robin Cancer Trust SuperHeroes Walk! Held at the Univerisity of Essex’s Colchester Campus, the general public came out in force to support this worthy charity with sponsorship money and an assortment of tombolas, games and raffles. All the money raised goes towards the charities mission to build awareness and reduce embarrassment around germ cell cancer – a form of testicular and ovarian cancer. Being proud sponsors, Phelan joined the fun with its own stall to raise money, offering face painting and a chance to win a big cuddly bear with a “Guess the Bear’s name” game.

Phelan also brought along some of its own super Phelan employees, Bananaman (Jeff Barron), Superman (Chris Groves), Phelan-man (Jim McKim) and Batman (Tony Birkin) to take part in the 5k walk/run! Bananaman’s four-legged sidekicks, Dougal and Charlie, also stole the show with their adorable Spiderman and Superman dog costumes.

Our combined total of sponsorship and stall money is yet to be confirmed, but we expect to have raised about £250 for the Robin Cancer Trust! If you would like to donate to the Robin Cancer Trust, you can do so here: DONATE.
