What did the project involve?

This project involved the full design and new-build construction of three classrooms, plus car park alterations and an all-weather sports pitch. The project tasks ranged from the containment and removal of any asbestos to excavation and casting of new foundations.

It included the decoration of floor and wall finishes as well as the connection of a new rainwater drainage system. The pictures demonstrate Phelans’s landscaping capabilities with the construction of new pathways that connect the new building and the fencing work that surrounds the sports pitch.

What stand-out features did the project boast?

The aesthetically pleasing design to the school was the first project to be completed under the new Essex County Council framework to the delight of the client, staff and pupils alike. This project achieved an excellent air tightness rating of 2.75m3/h/m2, which exceeded the requirement of 3.0. This project also achieved Energy Performance Assessment Rating of Category B (26), providing excellent energy efficiency for the school.
