What did the project involve?
This project involved the re-modelling of an existing restaurant over two floors, including some minor structural alterations. This restaurant is now a highly in demand restaurant serving luxury asiant quisine in the heart of Mayfair.
What challenges did the project team face?
The site was extremely challenging logistically due to its central London location and the site being landlocked on all sides. It also required an extremely high-end finish within a tight 14-week programme. Both the quality and deadline were achieved to the complete satisfaction of the client, including the installation of the specialist timber ‘Robata’ bar made from single pieces of a tree trunk imported specially.
What stand-out features did the project boast?
Specialist materials were used on this project, including a milled steel bar and kiosk, which was constructed off-site by Phelan Construction. Bush-whacked granite was added as a finish to the stunning bathrooms. Working with both the Japanese conceptual architects, Studio Glitt, and the renowned detailed design architects, Design LSM, Phelan Construction were able to advise on both the logistical approach and the resolution of several build-ability issues, primarily the suspended solid oak ceiling, to finish on time and on spec.
